Swaying Teahouse in Japan

Check out this teahouse that is built atop two chestnut trees. It is located in Nagano Prefecture and is called the takasugi-an teahouse which I believe means a teahouse too-high. The teahouse sways gently when there is a breeze. I don't see how it could stand up to anything more than a breeze though.

  1. That looks like something out of J. R. R. Tolkien.

  3. well if you say its real, then I'll believe you....

But I gotta say, I won't be stopping in for tea any time soon....

Has code enforcement seen that yet?

  4. Do they even have code enforcement in Japan? Seeing some of the crazy, haphazard buildings in Japan I would think not. :-)

  5. There are building code's in Japan. Some things fall outside of this.

It is essentially a tree-house. No plumbing, no electrical. Sip your tea and enjoy the view. It looks like a lovely place to hand out at.

  7. I'm thinking no more than 3. I believe a true tea ceremony usually has only 2 or 3 people.
