Check out this teahouse that is built atop two chestnut trees. It is located in Nagano Prefecture and is called the takasugi-an teahouse which I believe means a teahouse too-high. The teahouse sways gently when there is a breeze. I don't see how it could stand up to anything more than a breeze though.
That looks like something out of J. R. R. Tolkien.
ReplyDeleteLooks a little fishy too me...
ReplyDeleteThere is more info and photos about the teahouse here:

well if you say its real, then I'll believe you....
ReplyDeleteBut I gotta say, I won't be stopping in for tea any time soon....
Has code enforcement seen that yet?
Do they even have code enforcement in Japan? Seeing some of the crazy, haphazard buildings in Japan I would think not. :-)
ReplyDeleteThere are building code's in Japan. Some things fall outside of this.
ReplyDeleteIt is essentially a tree-house. No plumbing, no electrical. Sip your tea and enjoy the view. It looks like a lovely place to hand out at.
i wonder how many people can get up there. omoshiroi ne!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking no more than 3. I believe a true tea ceremony usually has only 2 or 3 people.
ReplyDeleteVery Funky!
ReplyDeleteFascinating! Would love to have some tea while feeling the floor shay beneath.
