My name is Jon and I live in Los Angeles. I've visited Japan a lot so that's what this blog is about...visiting Japan, Japanese history and samurai movies.
Daibutsu, Kamakura
Daibutsu in Kamakura, June 2010. There were thousands of school kids visiting that day. It was still great fun.

Small Japanese Door
I posted this maybe last year but here it is again in black and white. I like this little door, maybe on 4 feet or 120 cm tall. This is from Otawara, Tochigi-ken.
No matter that I've been to Japan over a dozen times I still bump my head on my father in laws doorways in his house every trip. He has old house with doors probably less then 6 feet. I'm 6 foot 3.
Is this for very small people, very big cats or ... ninjas? ;)
ReplyDeleteFor small people. Ninja just go over the wall.
ReplyDeleteI thought they went THROUGH the wall ...
DeleteOh the ghost ninja. Yes that is true. :)
DeleteHaha! The two comments here just made me rofl! :P
ReplyDeleteI'm happy we could provide some entertainment. :-)
ReplyDeleteIn the old age, our body height was low although it was higher 120 cm. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have seen many obachan who are very short bending over all time.
ReplyDeleteGot to be pretty small to fit through that. I would probably bang my head like usual :)
