My name is Jon and I live in Los Angeles. I've visited Japan a lot so that's what this blog is about...visiting Japan, Japanese history and samurai movies.
Daibutsu, Kamakura
Daibutsu in Kamakura, June 2010. There were thousands of school kids visiting that day. It was still great fun.

Quake toppled cemetery
Quake toppled cemetery in Otawara, Tochigi-ken, Japan.
It does have sad beauty. Some cemeteries don't get much attention so some of these family plots may not get fixed for a long time. This photo was about 5 months after the great quake.
It may be that in order to conduct the repairs, there has to be the presence of a Buddhist Priest and or a Shinto Priest to oversee this. There could be bad karma associated with the burial plot if it isn't handled in the proper manner.
Memories ...
ReplyDeleteYes. I have a feeling this cemetery is still in this condition.
DeleteI am a little doubtful. Japanese seem to fix things very quickly.
DeleteI do say, though. It's not so ugly the way it is. It has a sad beauty about it. Especially the dropping flower on the right side. :(

ReplyDeleteInteresting. I had not thought of that. Thanks.
