Skinny Skyscrapers

When I visited Tokyo in the past, one of the tings that intrigued me were the narrow highrises. I thought it was pretty cool to see a 8 or 10 or 15 story building that was only one room wide. Below is one I remember from my visits to the Ginza area.

  2. These things are so crazy. It's usually on land that's been held for a long time and one neighbour wouldn't sell out to another to build something decent.

In more developed areas the government will step in and forcibly acquire the land so that proper high rise buildings can be built.

  3. In the US, communities have used "Eminent Domain" in order to confiscate land for developments. Or usually land owners almost always sell for some amount of money.
