Daibutsu in Kamakura, June 2010. There were thousands of school kids visiting that day. It was still great fun.

  1. That's the Shingon Temple I go to. Being that Rev. Seicho Asahi resigened in a storm of controversey in May 2011 is likely the reason why Ken Watanabe's picture with him was taken down.

  2. Yes I remember that is your temple. I heard about the resignation of the Bishop and what surprised me was he was relatively new to the temple. What happened?

  3. Internal Temple Politics took their toll and left people on both sides of the aisle unhappy. This brought back Miyata Sensei out of retirement and the young Keishin Kako Sensei over here from Japan for the next two years to assist. We were not sure how we felt about it for some time but time heals most wounds. Since then Koyanagi Sensei and Asahi Sensei have formed their own Temple training center for the purpose of establishing initiate training in this country to by pass the legal red tape to get trained ministers from Japan over here. Here is a link to their new website: http://shingonjitemple.org/

  4. I'm so jealous that you have this, and a Little Tokyo, in LA. We don't have anything like that in London.

  5. There are no Buddhist temples in London? How about a Chinatown?
